Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of experience in progressively responsible leadership roles in academic success.
- Experience with new student orientation and on-boarding processes, advising and transfer processes, and compliance in the aforementioned areas.
- Experience in working successfully with stakeholders in the student success division, undergraduate admissions, registrar’s office, financial aid, and academic colleges.
- Skill in researching and assembling data related to student academic success outcomes.
- Ability to take the initiative, problem-solve, exercise judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Ability to negotiate and partner with diverse internal and external constituents.
- Ability to read, interpret, and effectively communicate university policies and procedures, accreditation standards, and state and federal rules and regulations.
- Ability to successfully manage a staff of professional-level employees.
- Excellent and effective communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Master’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures and Student and Faculty Handbooks.
- Experience with providing training on student-centered, evidence-based course design and teaching practices.
- Knowledge of Banner, LMS, SAP, EAB Navigate.
- Doctoral degree.
Job Description:
The Assistant/Associate Vice Provost for Academic Advising and Transitions is responsible for leading operations and management of programs and staff associated with academic success initiatives, in specific regard to academic advising, first-year introductory seminar course, and transfer initiatives and transitions.
Job Duties:
- Provide leadership and oversight for academic success programs and initiatives, such as first-year seminar introductory course, academic advising, and college and transfer initiatives.
- Guide and facilitate delivery of academic advising services across the colleges and campuses, including the delivery of advisor training on core curriculum and uniform advising practices.
- Lead pedagogy development and training for University Seminar course faculty and staff.
- Plan and coordinate advising efforts for New Student Orientation.
- Process transfer course equivalency requests for prospective transfer students.
- Assist with student appeals, grievances, and complaints regarding academic success.
- Provide departmental functions for exploratory and exploratory professional students including processing Dean’s list, suspension appeals, administrative withdrawals, and probation letters.
- Provide curricular review of intensive writing courses.
- Collaborate with the Registrar on degree auditing and scribing of Degree Works for Course Programs of Study (CPOS).
- Represent the university on internal and external councils and committees regarding academic success initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
