Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

We are looking for a dynamic customer-focused creative and technical profession with marketing acumen to join our team. Under general supervision the Creative Services Specialist ( CSS ) plays a crucial role in shaping and maintaining Texas Southern University’s brand image through compelling visual and multimedia content. The CSS provides design, graphics, and photography for all university departments. The CSS also provides outside organizations and media with graphics and photography. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of urgency and will value and love promoting the Texas Southern University brand through creative content including, but not limited to, graphic design, photography, dynamic graphic content, and more.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Graphic Design: Designs appealing graphics, infographics, and promotional materials in alignment with established brand standards
  • Produces and manages various forms of multimedia content aimed at enhancing the TSU brand and its visibility, engagement, and overall presence
  • Photography: Plans and executes photo shoots, including storyboarding and location scouting, capture high-quality images to be used in marketing campaigns, on social media, and on our university website
  • Under supervision of Creative Services Manager, executes creative strategies for University branding and awareness which includes, but is not limited to, print and electronic (social media, web, and video) requests
  • Works with marketing team to proactively assess changes in multimedia/creative landscape to tailor messaging needs of the University
  • Coordinate’s efforts and imaging across all university platforms to present cohesive visual representation
  • Researches, develops, and creates graphic designs and edits a wide range of university documents including, but not limited to, marketing materials, advertisements, billboard content, reports, presentations, university logos and graphics.
  • Assists, as needed, in developing internal and external communications initiated and approved by the Office of the President
  • Stay up to date with stakeholder preferences and proactively suggest new initiatives; build strong client relationships through digital interaction.
  • Propose annual budgets and relevant key performance metrics and produce regular status reports on the operations of this function.
  • Exhibit the university’s core values in all respects as a leader within the institution.

Hiring Range
$59,442.00 - $75,788.56

Education

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with demonstrated competencies in graphic design, photography, and digital content creation.

Required Licensing/Certification

Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Design software: InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva
  • Knowledge of electronic media.
  • Knowledge of design layout and electronic publishing techniques.

Work Experience

Minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably in a higher education, non-profit, or marketing and communications setting.
