Job Summary
The Department of Psychology and Counseling at the University of Texas at Tyler invites qualified applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Practice in Clinical Psychology position commencing January or August 2025.
Screening of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Essential Functions
Duties and responsibilities include:
(1) teach graduate clinical psychology content and applied courses in their area of expertise;
(2) supervise practicum students;
(3) advise students;
(4) coordinate the practicum placement process;
(5) participate collaboratively in program, department, college, and university governance.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited degree program and APA internship with license eligibility in Texas. Candidates should have clinical experience providing evidence-based interventions. We especially seek candidates interested in joining a department with a new, APA accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology with specialization in underserved populations. Our program focuses on geropsychology, veteran issues, and rural mental health. Areas of research and clinical expertise are open, but expertise in cognitive behavioral or third[1]wave theory and techniques will be given preference. Interest in teaching graduate-level practicum, therapy, assessment, and psychopathology courses is desired. Candidates will support the department through teaching and service but may participate in research as well.

Preferred Qualifications
Provide evidence of excellence in teaching, training, supervising, and mentoring doctoral students in clinical psychology.
Experience managing clinical practicum as a licensed supervisor, external site coordinator, or clinic director is especially preferred.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
