Position Description
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Pratt Institute (SCPS) is creating a pool of applicants for part-time, non-credit instructor appointments for upcoming semesters. SCPS offers a broad array of professional development non-credit courses, workshops and certificate programs in areas art, design and architecture. Our full catalogue of current course offerings can be found at pratt.edu/scps . Classes and workshops vary in length from one day workshops to full semester courses.
The SCPS program seeks to maintain a robust pool of instructors by accepting applications from new instructors to teach established non-credit courses and workshops. Proposals for new courses centered around the instructor's area of expertise are also welcome. Non-credit instructors are expected to develop their own syllabi and participate in curriculum development meetings to ensure that their classes fit cohesively into the larger program structure.

Examples of Duties
- Develop and teach non-credit courses or workshops in art, design, and architecture, including creating syllabi and participating in curriculum development meetings.
- Propose new courses based on area of expertise and engage with students through in-person, hybrid, and online learning platforms such as Canvas and Zoom.
Qualifications
Candidates must have expertise in their field and will be evaluated based on their professional background, education and prior teaching experience. Ideal applicants will have experience teaching in-person, hybrid and online courses. Experience with Canvas, Zoom and other online learning tools is preferred.
Compensation and class dates depend on the nature and duration of the course or workshop. Application to this posting is a requirement for all new SCPS non-credit instructors.
Pay Rate: $60 - $120/hour depending on course
