Assistant Professor of Data Analytics
Ohio Wesleyan University’s Data Analytics program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Data Analytics to begin in August 2025. We seek an enthusiastic colleague and instructor with experience in a range of disciplinary Data Analytics applications. We encourage applicants from any academic field.
OWU’s Data Analytics program is an interdisciplinary program grounded in the liberal arts. In addition to courses in Data Analytics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, students also study in any of several cognate disciplines, including Politics and Government, Psychology, Physics, Geography, Finance, Environmental Studies, Economics, and Accounting. Throughout, students consider the ethical implications of their work and develop problem-solving skills that draw upon habits and methods of a range of disciplines.
This job is part of a cluster of positions with which Ohio Wesleyan seeks to further diversify its curriculum and faculty. This faculty cohort will join an educational community that values equity and interdisciplinarity and fosters close working relationships with students through our signature program in experiential learning, The OWU Connection. Responsibilities
- Serve as Director of the Data Analytics Program
- Teach six courses a year (3/3), including DATA courses currently in our catalog and additional courses developed by the hire
- Advising and mentoring students in their academic journey
- Engaging in a consistent and focused line of research in Data Analytics
- Providing service to the program, university, and profession
- Assisting in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in analytics, data science, or another data-related discipline; or a combination of an academic or professional terminal degree with relevant certifications or substantial, demonstrated industry experience in data analytics
- Evidence of preparation for teaching at the undergraduate level
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to helping students from diverse racial, social, and cultural groups attain their full potential
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as the instructor for undergraduate Data Analytics courses
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students in research
- A research program that leverages the interdisciplinary scope of OWU programs and departments and university initiatives (e.g., The OWU Connection)

- Research statement (2-page limit): a statement outlining the central aims of the research program you would like to develop and how it will thrive at Ohio Wesleyan.
- Three letters of recommendation, with one focusing on teaching.
