VCU FMD Construction Management has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Application Technician to join the team!

The Facilities Application Technician provides comprehensive support and guidance to users of Trimble Unity Construct (formerly e-Builder), a Project Management Information System (PMIS), ensuring efficient operation and data integrity throughout VCU and VCUHS. The technician will diagnose and resolve application-related issues, facilitate user training, and monitor workflows and data to enhance user satisfaction and system performance. Additionally, the technician will participate in special projects as assigned to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports directly to the Facilities Application Administrator, ensuring alignment with goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
User Support and Training
- User Support and Troubleshooting: Serve as the first point of contact for user inquiries and support requests, effectively diagnosing and resolving application-related issues while escalating complex matters to the application administrator when necessary
- User Training and Guidance: Deliver training sessions and develop user-friendly materials to educate users on application features, functionalities, and best practices
- Monitoring User Satisfaction: Gather user feedback to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement, analyzing support trends to enhance the overall user experience
- Reporting Issues: Log and categorize application issues, providing detailed information to the application administrator for investigation, and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge base of common issues and solutions
- Monitoring Process Workflows: Regularly track the status of ongoing workflows and processes, identifying and escalating any bottlenecks or delays while generating reports on workflow performance metrics
- Data Monitoring: Conduct daily monitoring of project data, addressing discrepancies and providing support to users regarding data entry and reporting issues while reporting on trends that may indicate the need for process corrections
- Regulatory Compliance: Throughout progress of work, review and report any regulatory non-compliance risk or occurrence to Application Administrator or Director of Construction
- Special Projects: Collaborate with the Application Administrator and team members on special projects as assigned, contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing application functionality and improving user satisfaction
Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Standards
- Associate's degree or certifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in application support or user support roles, demonstrating strong customer service skills
- Basic understanding of application troubleshooting and familiarity with enterprise-level software applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on strong interpersonal communication to assist users at various technical levels
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in work processes or evolving priorities
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Experience with enterprise level software applications
- Basic experience or understanding of Commonwealth of Virginia procurement
- Basic experience or understanding of commercial planning, design, and construction projects
