Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can
anticipate earn between $79,500 - $87,500, with final salary based on experience and
qualifications.

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking two Learning Technology System Administrators for the Learn@UW-Madison service within the Academic Technology department. Learn@UW-Madison is a dynamic team of professionals who support the mission of teaching and learning with technology at UW-Madison (for more on Learn@UW-Madison, see https://it.wisc.edu/academic-technology ).

The individuals in these new positions will administer and support tools designed to assist instructors and students with teaching and learning as well as career services-related endeavors such as interviewing and job searching. They will do this by providing the following for our cloud-hosted applications: Configuration, quality assurance, documentation, consultation, user support, vendor management, and internal process improvement.

DoIT provides information technology services to UW-Madison, all UW campuses, and the Universities of Wisconsin and other agencies, employing approximately 600 people and operating with a budget of approximately $100 million. Responsibilities: Configures, integrates, administers, and provides advanced and varied consultation, project management, and operational support of highly complex applications or services with a large number of users. Anticipates issues and devises resolution methodology to support the business operations of the institution.
  • 5% Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain application security through user profile management
  • 5% Monitors and maintains performance metrics for application features and recommends and takes corrective/preventive actions
  • 20% Troubleshoots hardware, software, and system problems and resolves issues and questions by working with vendors
  • 10% Participates in the evaluation of vendor software releases and impact
  • 5% Coordinates and monitors updates and the installation of upgrades and patches
  • 10% Recommends application enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, integrations, and third-party products
  • 15% Participates in the design, development, and implementation of test and production objects. Defines user requirements and performs configuration, change management, and testing activities
  • 10% Develops and maintains documentation related to the system. Communicates system enhancement or changes as needed
  • 5% Plans and directs staff implementation of small to medium technical projects related to system as needed
  • 5% Regularly communicates with internal leadership to assess efficacy of system and discuss improvements and new features
  • 10% Works collaboratively with the Division for Teaching and Learning Business Owners to understand their goals and to ensure IT services are aligning with their business objectives for teaching, learning, and career services

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

- Professional experience of administration of an application with a moderate to large number of end users (Minimum of one year experience preferred)
- Professional experience working directly with a learning management system, other learning technologies, career services application, or related software (Minimum of one year experience preferred)
- Professional experience related to application support, either in a technical support area, academic department, computer lab, help desk, library, or training environment (Minimum of one year experience preferred)
- Proven experience in effectively communicating with customers, end users, business owners, and/or other stakeholders

In addition to required qualifications, the most qualified candidates may also have the following preferred qualifications:

- Hands-on experience with Gradescope, Handshake, 12twenty, or Big Interview
- Experience with direct support of faculty, instructors, and staff in a higher education environment
- Experience with software testing and quality assurance practices
- Experience managing vendor-hosted software and vendor relationships
- Experience creating high-quality technical documentation for software and systems

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position is eligible for any of the following: 100% remote work; partial remote work; or fully on-site. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.
