Position Description
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a full-time one-year position at the Lecturer rank to begin January 2025. We seek an outstanding lecturer dedicated to excellence in the chemical and biochemical sciences. The department, an American Chemical Society ( ACS )-approved program, has a strong and proven reputation for educating and training women of African-descent to excel in STEM fields. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in chemistry or a related area and prepared to teach courses at the undergraduate level in at least one or more of the traditional sub disciplinary areas of chemistry as identified by the ACS : Analytical, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Organic, or Physical Chemistry. The successful candidate will teach either 3 laboratories (4 contact hour courses) OR 2 lectures and one lab OR 1 lecture and 2 laboratory courses. All courses are introductory chemistry courses—general chemistry or organic chemistry. All courses are taught in person. The position also requires contributing effectively to curriculum development efforts, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department and college. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry with primary expertise in Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or Physical Chemistry.
