The Student Service Center Counselor is primarily responsible for being the face of the Student Service Center by assisting visitors in person and in the Call Center in the areas of Registrar, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid in a timely and accurate manner. This position requires that the employee remains up to date with all current policies within the Registrar, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid departments in order to best service our customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in serving visitors and callers in the areas of the Registrar, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid departments by accurately navigating the CISCO, BANNER, APEX, SWIPER, and CRM systems. Assist parents and students by quickly identifying issues and directing them to solutions as determined by appropriate policies and procedures. This requires a wide knowledge base of the various schools and departments across the university, in order to give accurate information. Data input and processing of various student forms. Maintain a detailed working knowledge of the Liberty University website to efficiently assist students. Keep up to date on all policies and procedures of the Registrar, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid departments, as they relate to students. Maintain familiarity with all staff directories for the Registrar, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and other departments around campus to direct students appropriately. Continuously work to improve customer service skills to maintain the highest standards of service both in person and on the phone with customers. Occasionally required to assist with events outside of normal business hours, including but not limited to Commencement exercises. Various projects and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience

High School Degree required. Strong computer skills are required. Well-developed communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.

  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.

  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government, and community customers and associates.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent purchasing systems and computer skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.

  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.

  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.

  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop in order to conduct business.

  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

  • Consistently review electronic documentation of various formats and process data on the computer through various systems and file types.

WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.
