Posting End Date: Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.
Salary Range: $48,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: Exempt position.
Seeking to fill one 1 year fixed-term track faculty appointment (i.e., non-tenure track).
The position is full-time and considered 40 hours a week for 9-months of each year.
Anticipated workload distribution, depending on departmental needs:
- 80% teaching and 20% service, or
- 90% teaching and 10% service, or
- 100% teaching, no service.
For 80% teaching loads, course load is 4 courses in the Spring.
For 90% teaching loads, course load is 4 courses in one semester and 5 courses in the other.
For 100% teaching loads, course load is 5 courses per semester.

Essential Functions
The Department of Psychology at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for a Lecturer, Spring 2025. The University is situated in a vibrant and growing community, serving a broad and dynamic community that reflects the rich variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives in our student body. While continuing its tradition of excellence in teaching and community service, UTSA is rapidly moving toward classification as the doctoral/research institution. - Teach undergraduate courses during fall and spring semesters.
- Course instruction will be primarily face-to-face and it is required that candidates be able and present to teach in that format.
- Course instruction may also include hybrid and online formats dependent on department needs.
- Engagement in service related to undergraduate students potentially including curricular requirements, competency development, resource needs, program evaluation, and student assessment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely-related discipline.
- Previous experience teaching at least one of the following with high ratings: introductory psychology, social psychology, biopsychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, or statistics.
- Knowledge and skills in using computer programs and platforms including Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), statistical software (e.g., SPSS, JASP, R, and MPLUS), and online classroom software (e.g., Zoom, Canvas, Blackboard, Camtasia).
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Training in either biopsychology/physiological psychology or social psychology (e.g., social cognition and relationships).
- Secondary preferences include ability to teach classes such as
introduction to psychology, experimental methods, experimental
projects and laboratory, statistics, cognitive psychology,
biopsychology, motivation and emotion, as well as other classes
listed in the UTSA catalog. as within (a) health-related
disciplines (which might include a clinical or social focus), (b) multiple domains of teaching, including introduction to psychology, statistics, experimental psychology, experimental projects and laboratory, and cognitive psychology, or (c) other classes listed in the UTSA catalog. - Highly prefer persons with experience teaching both in person and online courses and willingness and availability to teach using both platforms, with the majority of courses likely being taught in person, requiring the person to be on campus most days.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing labs and/or teaching assistants.
