Position Description

The new Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACM) in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at Yale University invites applicants for positions at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Appointments may be considered jointly with other departments within SEAS.  Applications from candidates with expertise in any field of Applied Mathematics will be considered.

The ACM department represents a new commitment to mathematical and computational science at Yale, as part of the Strategic Vision for Yale Engineering.  We are looking for outstanding candidates to join this collaborative group of scholars focused on innovative teaching and research that addresses complex modern problems.   Successful candidates will play a formative role in establishing the new department and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations with partners from around the University.

Excellence in teaching and advising is essential and candidates will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level.  Faculty may have unique opportunities to develop new courses in line with expanding curricular needs or individual research interests.  Likewise, candidates should be actively engaged in research in areas in applied and computational mathematics.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent at the time of hire in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.  Successful candidates will excel in teaching and advising and have an active research portfolio.
