Earth & Environmental Systems Assistant Professor
The place of employment is at Indiana State University, 200 North 7th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47809.
The Department of Earth and Environmental Systems invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning in Fall 2025. We are searching for motivated individuals with a strong background in geoscience-related fields, with a focus on application of GIS and Remote Sensing tools including geospatial AI and machine learning, spatial-temporal statistics, and other geovisualization tools. The candidate’s expertise should have an interdisciplinary focus, matching the broad theme of environmental science, sustainability, or another geoscience similar to faculty within the Department. Teaching responsibilities are generally three courses per semester and include introductory and advanced undergraduate courses on GIS, Remote Sensing, and geospatial data science, as well as graduate classes in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate is expected to develop a robust externally funded research program in their specialty that actively involves graduate and undergraduate students. The courses that will be taught include ENVI 110 - Introduction to Environmental Science, ENVI 272 - Introduction to Geospatial Technologies, ENVI 372 - GIS Applications, ENVI 402 - Geoprocessing, ENVI 472 - Topics in Geospatial Technology, and classes in their area of specialization.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a geoscience-related field. ABD candidates graduating by Fall 2025 will be considered. A foreign educational equivalent is acceptable.
