Position:
The College of Business and Economics invites applications for a non-tenure track, 9-month Professor of Practice position in the Department of Accounting. Preferred start date is January 2025. This position is specifically for a Professor of Practice in the field of financial accounting, auditing, and analytics. The professor of practice will be engaged in teaching, curriculum development, and outreach to our community college and professional partners. The faculty would also serve as our liaison to and center director for our Maryland CASH (VITA) campaign. They would also play a key role in the ongoing process of articulating the Towson Accounting curriculum with those offered by community colleges, and that which is necessary to complete the Maryland CPA designation.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in accounting or master’s in business with bachelor’s degree in accounting, and an active CPA license are required. Doctoral degree and prior teaching experience at the college level are preferred. The candidate must have a minimum of five years working full time as a professional in an accounting and/or business environment. The candidate must also be committed to meeting Towson’s mission by serving the department, college, and university.
Faculty in the College of Business and Economics are annually reviewed by peers, which is an essential feature of effective teaching. Being flexible to the scheduling needs of the department is required. The position calls for the person hired to be able to teach at all campuses where Towson University class are offered including the main campus and the TU Northeast (TUNE) campus in Harford County as needed. The position may require after hours and/ or off-campus activities periodically.
Salary and Benefits:
Targeted salary range: $95,000 commensurate with experience.
