Description

ART 430 - Web Design Studio

An advanced studio/lecture course that focuses on the principles of web design, the structural flow of interface design, content development, and web delivery. for on-screen devices. Topics include identifying user, client, and design goals; defining information architecture; balancing functionality and aesthetics; optimizing media; designing for multiple devices; writing for the web; and designing for usability and accessibility. Throughout the course, students design and develop websites utilizing a variety of software applications and code resources, such as HTML and CSS.

College Teaching Requirements
  • Prepare a detailed syllabus for the course and distribute a copy to each student. The syllabus must conform to the requirements in the Faculty Handbook and those established by the department chair.
  • Maintain weekly office hours. When classes are in session, part-time faculty are expected to be on campus at least one hour for each course taught to meet with students outside class. These meetings may take place immediately before or after class.
  • Keep an accurate record of student attendance and report excessive absences to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Maintain an accurate record of grades and submit final grades promptly to the Registrar.
  • Seek ways to improve teaching effectiveness. Evaluates teaching effectiveness through student ratings of course and instruction and self-evaluation.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in teaching subject. In exceptional cases, outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the teaching discipline may be presented in lieu of formal academic preparation. Such cases must be justified by the institution individually.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with college policy.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all constituents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and knowledge of course content.
