General Schedule

Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Position Overview:

Interact with internal and external constituents to provide information regarding scholarship requirements and award processes. Receive, review, and process scholarship requests from departments, colleges, and students. Review and assist with the reconciliation of award accounts and the dissemination of award notices. Create and distribute award reports to various internal and external constituents or agencies for review. Serve as a liaison between students and various campus resources utilizing a holistic approach to student success.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
  • Manages Scholarships email account. Applies significant amount of judgment concerning student and vendor account issues and provides excellent customer service to resolve concerns and disputes.
  • Processes departmental scholarship submissions through OnBase software. Distributes funds to student accounts in accordance with rules of scholarship organization and adjusts payments to maximize the efficient usage of university funds. Coordinates the audit of refunds to ensure that funds paid by outside sources are applied to student accounts or refunded appropriately.
  • Assists Associate Director with awarding, billing, and managing Oklahoma’s Promise scholarship. Provides support in processing and applying OSRHE scholarships to student accounts.
  • Manages student financial services work-study processes.
  • Works closely with the Athletics department to meet NCAA guidelines for the awarding and processing of athletic aid on Compliance Assistant software.
  • Applies experience and knowledge to decision-makings processes involved in financial aid, scholarships, and other student-centric situations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience Required:

General education or vocational training and 2+ years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Preferred:

Associates degree or vocational training plus 2+ years of customer service or experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1+ year higher education experience and/or 1+ year UCO experience. Banner Software experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to execute tasks according to standard operating procedures and/or direction. Ability to learn new subject matter, coupled with attention to detail and responsiveness to feedback. Must be able to set priorities and objectives, assist in problem resolution, and perform simple math. Excellent communication skills, and ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and third-party agencies. Ability to keep a positive attitude during stressful situations, multi-task projects, and be a self-starter.
