Class Description
This position provides supplemental support services and interventions to enhance student success, retention, and completion at CCBC. Reporting to the Director of Student Retention and Transition Services, the Assistant Director oversees student support programming (such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other interventions).
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree required in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Education, or related discipline. A minimum of five (5) years of experience working within higher education, preferably at a community college that serves a diverse student population, is required. Demonstrated leadership of programs such as supplemental instruction, tutoring or other academic supports. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience is required. Budget management experience preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties
- Oversee the planning and allocation of resources to effectively staff and accomplish the department's productivity goals, including planning and evaluating to improve the efficiency of processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output for all stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with the director to develop new programs, initiatives, and strategies consistent with the College's mission.
- Document all policies and procedures, assess data, and strengthen operational practices to ensure business operations are meeting student needs.
- Supervise, advise, and evaluate assigned staff, as required.
- Prepare, analyze, and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
- Serve as liaison between college departments, vendors, government agencies and/or other external organizations.
- Serve on established departmental committees and/or ad hoc committees, task forces or other bodies pertinent to student success.
- Serve as Administrator on Duty responsibilities as needed.
- Manage operating budget for assigned division or function, as required.
Position Specific Essential Duties
- Provide oversight and direction to s tudent supports (such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other interventions), including managing the department's overall operational, budgetary, technological, and financial responsibilities and activities.
- Assumeresponsibilityfor researching best practices andevidence-basedprograms,policies, and procedures to support student success and retention.
- Guide holistic approaches to support services for students at risk of not completing academic goals to increase access, belonging, retention, and satisfaction across all programs.
- Advise and assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic processes and initiatives designed to foster student success and retention while fully supporting CCBC's mission, vision, and values.
- Design short-term and long-range strategies for student retention initiatives to support students and empower them through completion fully.
- Collaborate with students, faculty and staff to ensure seamless services for new and continuing students.
- Participate in internal and external professional development activities pertinent to learning assistance programs, academic coaching, student persistence and retention.
- Collect and evaluate data and provide follow-up interventions, including preparing reports on academic support outcomes and retention.

The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees). - Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.

McDaniel College has extended its Educator’s Legacy Scholarship (ELS) program to CCBC benefits-eligible employees. CCBC is among the inaugural community college partners.
