Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The Business Data Lab Manager will work alone or in a team of Business Data Lab Managers and will be responsible for helping faculty and students learn and use data sources to perform high quality scholarly research. The data sources include UNCW subscriptions to WRDS, CRSP, Compustat, S&P Capital IQ Pro, TAQ, Audit Analytics, among others. The data sources also include free data sources available online through government and other sites.

This position will be responsible to learn the various business resources available to faculty and students, and to help faculty and students extract and use data to perform scholarly research. Some specific duties include:

Work with data providers to organize on-campus training sessions. Schedule rooms, tech support, and sign-up process to manage the training sessions.

Create and maintain a library of tutorial PDFs and videos to assist faculty and staff with accessing data.

Help the business librarian maintain an updated list of free data sources that would be relevant for CSB researchers.

Train and manage a team of undergraduate "data specialists" who can provide on-call support throughout the day and evening hours in "help-desk" fashion.

Serve as Bloomberg Lab manager, and coordinate with TAC to ensure that all the Bloomberg terminals on campus are in good working order. Organize Bloomberg Market Concept certification each semester for any students, faculty, and staff who might be interested.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
As a guide, minimum requirements are generally: graduates from high school, two years related experience, and demonstrated ability with generally accepted office software programs. Work may require knowledge of UNCW policies and procedures or the ability apply policies and procedures to the work to be performed in the department.

At a minimum, the completion of a master's degree with a thesis in business or a related field is required.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate must have experience performing empirical research and writing a thesis. A doctorate degree in business, information technology, or other data-intensive field and experience extracting and managing big data is preferred. Some experience with statistical programming using SAS, Stata, R, Matlab, or similar software is also preferred.
