Chair of The Department of Theatre and Dance

The successful candidate will teach courses dependent on their area of expertise, whether in acting/directing or technical theatre (specifically scene and lighting design), and other courses as needed.

The Chair serves as the artistic director for the Department, collaborating with department faculty to set the department’s mission and goals for research, teaching, artistry, and service. The Chair must also recruit and support a diverse faculty, staff, and student body; coordinate the department’s season planning process; build relationships with area theatre, dance, and arts organizations; administer the department’s budget; plan strategic advances and target growth in the department‘s programs.

Additional responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring theatre students, as well as the placement of interns. Contribution to the field through active scholarly and/or related creative activities is encouraged. Service on university committees and active participation in respected state, regional, and national organizations is also expected.
