Job Details
Drew University is seeking a dynamic, creative, and motivated Sales Manager, Campus Venue Rentals to generate a strong revenue stream from renting spaces/venues across campus to external users. The ideal candidate thrives on building relationships, developing new business opportunities, and creating/executing a hands-on sales strategy. They will be highly organized, self-driven, and passionate about connecting with local businesses, the entertainment industry, event planners, caterers, and individuals to showcase Drew University’s campus for events such as corporate functions, conferences, social gatherings, summer camps, athletic events, weddings, film and television locations, theater/concert/dance performances, and more. This is a part-time (⅗) hybrid position and includes occasional nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive plan for new revenue generation in the environment of a university campus
- Proactively seek out and develop new business opportunities and partnerships.
- Build relationships with local businesses, event planners, community organizations, and individuals to generate leads and secure bookings.
- Attend local networking events, trade shows, and community functions to promote the venue and generate interest.
- Create and update sales collateral or informational materials.
- Conduct on-site tours of the venue for prospective clients, highlighting key features and amenities.
- Negotiate contracts and manage the booking process from lead generation to event execution.
- Meet or exceed monthly sales targets by closing venue rental contracts.
- Coordinate closely with the event staff to ensure seamless communication and execution of client expectations.
- Maintain detailed records of sales activities, lead generation, client communications, and bookings in Drew’s CRM software.
- Proven track record in sales, ideally in hospitality and events experience.
- Significant experience in venue and event management.
- Strong network and ability to generate leads.
- Shows ingenuity in strategies for increasing sales.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, set goals, and achieve sales targets.
- Previous experience with CRM Salesforce (3-5 yrs working experience a plus) and Microsoft Office systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends as required for client tours and events.
- Experienced with vendor management and serving as a liaison between various stakeholders.
- Capable of overseeing multiple projects and effectively communicating with diverse groups.
