Job Description

The Medical Education Administrator will oversee operations within the Medical Education division of the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri. This role will ensure alignment among the various units of the division, effectively managing support staff and unit leads in the execution of administrative and operational processes designed to support medical education. The Senior Administrative Consultant will exhibit strong leadership abilities, employ effective communication skills and analytical capabilities while demonstrating a commitment to achieving organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: With the Sr. Associate Dean of Medical Education and other medical education deans, develop and execute strategic business plans, including conducting comprehensive analyses and identifying opportunities for program improvement.

• Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations within the Medical Education division, ensuring alignment with SOM and University educational and operational policies and procedures.

• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and other medical education deans and leaders on initiatives, effectively communicating and negotiating solutions to achieve departmental goals. This responsibility may also include communication with the standing medical education standing committees and respective chairs.

• Staff and Space Management: Partner with SOM Human Resources to manage workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, and performance management processes, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Ensure all dedicated and/or necessary space required for medical education has all of the features required for effective administration, remediating and/or recommending improvements when encountered.

• Budget Development and Fiscal Tracking: Oversee and work in conjunction with the Medical Education Budget and Fiscal Manager who works with SOM Finance team and division senior leadership to develop an annual budget, utilizing approved tracking tools, reports and organizational policies to appropriately allocate and track resources allotted to meet the division’s objectives.

• Analytical Insight: Apply data analytics to evaluate the division’s performance and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.

• Manage and track affiliation agreements and memorandums of understanding for medical student training with collaborating schools and institutions

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Prior experience in an academic, and preferably medical education setting.
• Proven experience in administrative management and operationalizing strategic plans.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across various organizational departments or units.
• Experience with adult, professional degree-seeking learners.
• Management (planning and execution) and staffing large, high visibility events.
• Ability to prepare reports in response to urgent information requests while remaining calm and focused.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in highly matrixed organizations.
• Effective at managing competing priorities while meeting deliverables on time.
• Prior experience managing a department budget.

Shift

Work Hours/Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $78,562 - $132,000 (yearly)
