Support Specialist Start to Finish

Job Summary:
Works with students in the Start to Finish program to facilitate student success.
Essential Functions:
1. Facilitates student referrals and the transition of students, both within and outside the institution. 2. Monitors student progress utilizing a case management system and generates reports. 3. Participates in staff development and in-service training. 4. Facilitates the assessment and application of proper learning/study skills to current student coursework and assignments. 5. Creates examples and suggestions for academic skill use. 6. Facilitates study tables and group tutoring sessions as well as providing one-on-one tutoring. 7. Assists prospective students through the entire admissions process which includes completing applications for admissions and financial aid during visits to Benton Harbor Promise Zone schools. 8. Ensures students continue to apply what they learned in CLS 103 to other courses. 9. Reports departmental data for program improvement and advocacy. 10. Maintains an academic assistance calendar to provide academic services as needed. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; in Education, Human Services, Business or related field preferred. At least one year of experience in providing educational and/or mentoring services involving at-risk individuals required. Experience working with volunteers preferred. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented.
Grade:
Salary Range: $16.42 - $20.60
