About the Opportunity
Northeastern University School of Law is seeking candidates at all ranks for a full-time clinical professor position, starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. This role is part of the Law School's clinical professor track, which culminates in long-term renewable contracts. The selected attorney will primarily be responsible for teaching and supervising the Domestic Violence Clinic (DVC).
The DVC is dedicated to addressing and preventing various forms of violence, including domestic abuse, partner violence, and sexual assault through legal advocacy, policy work, and community engagement. Students in the clinic actively participate in client interviews, provide legal counsel, and advocate on behalf of clients in court. Legal representation is offered on a range of issues, including abuse prevention orders, family violence related immigration relief, and consultations on safety planning, resource referrals, mental health services, and victim compensation.
The DVC operates within a broader framework focused on education, service, and research, aimed at advancing legal and social responses to violence prevention and survivor support. The clinic's work extends to public policy efforts, advocating for systemic reforms to protect survivors and improve access to justice.
