Loyola University New Orleans, Department of Counseling is inviting applications for a tenure- track assistant professor position beginning in the fall of 2025. The Loyola Counseling Department is CACREP accredited in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling. The faculty are interested in developing a CACREP accredited Addictions Counseling program and the candidate will spearhead this effort with the support of the department faculty.

Loyola University New Orleans, a Jesuit and Catholic institution of higher education, welcomes students of diverse backgrounds and prepares them to lead meaningful lives with and for others; to pursue truth, wisdom, and virtue; and to work for a more just world. Inspired by Ignatius of Loyola's vision of finding God in all things, the university is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, while also offering opportunities for professional studies in undergraduate and graduate programs. Through teaching, research, creative activities, and service, the faculty, in cooperation with the staff, strives to educate the whole student and to benefit the larger community.

The faculty in the Department of Counseling train students to be ethical, competent, effective, and thoughtful mental health practitioners. We use hands-on, creative teaching methods that enhance student learning, provide a diverse and enriching collection of training experiences during the course of the student's academic preparation, educate students to be clinically and theoretically competent, ensure that students understand the ethical principles and social justice issues associated with counseling, and encourage our students to pursue additional training and advanced certification throughout their professional careers. Most importantly, students learn who they are. We help them become the best version of themselves while preparing them for a career to help others.

The Counseling Department is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse environment where students, regardless of age, gender identification, race, nationality, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, religious background, and/or disability receive an equitable education rooted in personal and professional development.
