Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community, and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population.

The Senior Technical Specialist will work with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) as a whole, and the Coordinator of Instructional Technology, to develop and deliver training/workshops for a variety of software/hardware applications, support faculty and students with the Learning Management System (LMS) and a variety of technologies integrated with the LMS, and to help realize and shape the current and future goals of OIT.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of the Blackboard Learning Management System under the lead of the Coordinator of Instructional Technology;
  • Develop and deliver training for all Microsoft 365 applications;
  • Develop and deliver training for Adobe applications, such as Creative Suite, Sign, Acrobat, and others (leveraging the innovations around Firefly);
  • Stay current of various AI tools used in higher education and learning management systems;
  • Research and stay current of AI detection tools;
  • Develop and deliver training for AI tools;
  • Support and train students, staff, and faculty on the use and troubleshooting of the learning management system;
  • Support and train students, staff, and faculty on the use of proctoring systems and software;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:


Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field, with two (2) years of experience and/or training that includes computer operating systems, hardware/software installation/troubleshooting, and network systems administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • 2+ years of work experience in higher education;
  • 3+ years of experience using and supporting Blackboard with at least 6 months of experience using the Ultra course view;
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote and others;
  • 3+ years of experience with Adobe applications, especially Sign and Acrobat;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and telephone skills;
  • An ideal candidate will be committed to the mission of the community college and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with professional, non-professional, and student personnel.
Additional Information:


Salary Range: $74,383 - $83,182, in accordance with one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure.
