Duties & Responsibilities
Summary:
Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry is seeking a full-time Learning Systems Coordinator to work in the office of the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Learning Systems Coordinator is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and resolving issues with learning management systems (LMS) and other school supported academic technologies within a higher education environment. This role focuses on training and supporting instructors in the effective and proper use of learning platforms to ensure use consistent with school policies and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Platform Monitoring: Regularly assess the performance and functionality of key academic technology platforms within the School of Dentistry to include Canvas, Echo, ExamSoft, troubleshooting issues as they arise, including communication with customer service representatives for these platforms.
- Instructor Training: Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops for faculty on the effective use of school-supported learning technologies.
- User Support: Provide ongoing technical support to instructors, addressing queries and ensuring a smooth user experience. Assist students with esam platforms issues, ensuring seamless exam access and submission.
- Collaboration: Work with Academic Affairs, Information Technology, and academic departments to facilitate integration into existing systems.
- Systems Maintenance: Stay current on updates and changes to school-supported academic technology platforms and work with the Academic Affairs team on messaging to rollout changes to faculty and students.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training and experience
- Experience working with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
- Experience with computer-based testing programs (e.g., ExamSoft)
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with an ability to train and support diverse faculty
- Analytical skills to assess and report on system performance and user engagement
- Experience working Windows and Mac computer operating systems
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training and experience in education or curriculum with an emphasis on technology integration
- Experience troubleshooting audio and video equipment to support the end user
- Previous experience using instructional technology tools such as Echo, PollEverywhere, TopHat
