Description
Technology resources are essential to the academic and administrative activities and functions across the UCM campus community. The office of Technology has responsibility for the deployment and support of technology resources pursuant to the UCM mission and goals that provide a quality education at an affordable cost to all students. Reporting to and taking direction from the VP for Finance and Operations, the Associate VP, Info Systems / CIO has responsibility for the Office of Technology that is comprised of the following departments: Application Systems - ERP, Application Systems - Solutions, Database, Network Services, Campus Technology Services, Multimedia/Audio Visual Services, Technology Support Center,
Infrastructure Services, Security and Technology Operations. The Office of Technology is responsible for enterprise and departmental application systems, technology hardware (workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, etc.) leveraged by students, faculty, staff, and administrators, network infrastructure (data, voice, and video), wired and wireless network connectivity, telecommunications, enterprise and departmental servers, storage, identity management, software licensing, inventory, classroom technology support, and support of the academic and instructional environment.
Primary functions of the position include, but are not limited to: Provide management, leadership, supervision, budgeting, and accountability for the Office of Technology departments; Ensure integrity and safety of University data, propriety information and intellectual property; Provide current and future vision and planning of technology resources to the overall activities of the campus community; and, Provide comprehensive support, planning, and guidance to the many different technology resources distributed across the instructional, academic, and non-academic environments of the campus community.
Examples of Duties
Provide management, leadership, supervision, budgeting, and accountability for the Office of Technology departments - 50%
- Ability to develop and lead a team of leaders for each of the departments that make up the Office of Technology.
- Oversight of the daily duties, activities, and work conducted by Office of Technology department heads.
- Define, develop, and oversee the budgets assigned to the Office of Technology and associated departments.
- Provide leadership and management for the process of developing and maintaining the effective technology and support services infrastructure for campus constituents.
- Alignment of fiscal and staff resources to complete work within the department and work that crosses departmental functional boundaries.
- Define and monitor department goals and performance metrics in support of UCM’s missions, goals, and directives.
- Define, develop, and maintain budgets for the current fiscal year and projections for the next five years.

- Ensure integrity and safety of University data, propriety information and intellectual property.
- Formulate technology standards, policies, and processes that guide use of technology resources across campus.
- Align human and fiscal resources to provide the highest level of quality for support of technology resources.
- Review and modify existing business intelligence and process development methodologies to include continuous improvement.
- Technology forecasting.
- Validate technology requests as it applies to the campus environment.
- Establish current and long-range strategic direction of technology resources.
Education:
- Master’s in the following field(s) of study: business, management, technology, leadership, communications, or related field (required).
- Doctorate in te chnology, leadership, administration, or related field (preferred).
- Ten years of progressive management and leadership role in a larger and complex technology environment (similar to the size of this organization).
- Five years of budget management.
- Five years in defining, planning, executing, and managing technology-based initiatives.
- Experience in higher education technology environment (preferred).
The incumbent for this position must complete a UCM Public Safety fingerprint background check.
