The Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative support to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in a variety of assignments. She/he will work independently, and must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Manage daily administration and oversight of the Provost's office, including confidential and time-sensitive information.
  • Prioritize daily schedule and other issues for the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This includes calendar management, preparation of materials for meetings, and providing status updates regarding ongoing issues or questions.
  • Intercept problems or queries when appropriate, investigate and develop informed judgments, and then see matters through to resolution or arrange for the appropriate referral.
  • Coordinate the development and management of Academic Affairs initiatives, events, special programs and projects.
  • Project manage key processes on behalf of the University, including budget, personnel and more, always in compliance with University, System, State and Federal policies.
  • Ensures proper materials and documents are prepared for key stakeholders: the Board of Trustees, UNC System. Takes initiative to ensure key deadlines are met.

This position must work in a collegial manner with executive leadership, faculty, staff, students, and outside constituents to ensure smooth and cohesive operations within Academic Affairs and other areas of campus according to the goals and mission of the University.

Responsibilities include highly confidential and complex assignments requiring exposure to sensitive information. Considerable discretion, judgment, diplomacy, and consistent application of institutional practices and procedures are imperative for success in this role.
