Position Summary:
Job SummaryThe Compliance Specialist and Deputy Title IX Coordinator will support the Director of Title IX Compliance in managing and investigating cases related to Title IX and Title VII. This role involves case intake and management, conducting thorough investigations, providing training, and collaborating with various university departments to promote a safe and equitable environment. The specialist will also be cross-trained in Title VII work to provide comprehensive support within the Human Resources department. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Case Intake and Management: Assist in the intake and management of Title IX and Title VII cases, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Investigations: Conduct thorough and impartial investigations of complaints related to bias, discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for students, faculty, and staff on Title IX and Title VII policies, procedures, and resources.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure the university's compliance with Title IX, VAWA, and other relevant laws by monitoring policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Campus Safety, Student Life, and other university departments to ensure accurate reporting and effective response to Title IX cases.
  • Support Services: Provide support and resources to individuals involved in Title IX and Title VII complaints, including offering information on reporting options and available support services.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and revision of university policies related to Title IX, Title VII, and sexual misconduct.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and maintain records of investigations and compliance activities.


Required Qualifications:
EducationA bachelor's degree is required.

Experience
3 years of experience in Title IX or Title VII compliance, investigations, or related areas required.
Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesThorough understanding of Title IX laws, regulations, and guidance to ensure compliance and effective implementation; Proficient in conducting fair and thorough investigations into allegations of sex-based discrimination and harassment; Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate Title IX policies, procedures, and outcomes to a diverse population; Ability to build rapport, maintain confidentiality, and navigate sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism; Dedication to promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment through proactive initiatives and policies that foster belonging and address systemic inequities; Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships and foster collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to develop and implement comprehensive education, training, and compliance initiatives related to Title IX regulations; Proficiency in developing and delivering training programs on Title IX policies, procedures, and prevention strategies for faculty, staff, and students; Skill in drafting, revising, and implementing Title IX policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and best practices; Ability to respond promptly and effectively to crises and emergency situations related to Title IX matters.

Additional Requirements This position requires occasional night and weekend hours and serves as a back-up in the absence of the Director of Title IX Compliance to respond to emergency procedural questions as it applies to sex and gender-based discrimination or harassment.This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual CSA training requirements.
Physical DemandPosition requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Position requires the ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machines. Working conditions are indoor.
