Job Summary

Reporting to the assigned leader within the Dean’s office, the Technical Program Director is responsible for the overall operation, supervision, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the assigned program. This position is also responsible for ensuring the assigned program meets accreditation standards and provides high-quality education to students.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the program
  • Teaches to support the program, including clinical and/or didactic instruction
  • Ensures student progression to and achievement of key competencies
  • Develops, evaluates, and revises the curriculum to ensure alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements
  • Ensures continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program
  • Assesses, plans, and manages program facilities and resources
  • Prepares and manages the program budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility
  • Coordinates and participates in the development and implementation of strategic plans, student learning outcomes assessment, program reviews, and curriculum revisions
  • Recruits students and provides program information to prospective and current students
  • Assigns teaching loads and supplemental responsibilities according to institutional policies; coordinates schedules
  • Coordinates student promotion and retention criteria
  • Manages the student admission process, including setting admission criteria and procedures
  • Serves as a liaison to practical and clinical sites, identifying new sites and maintaining relationships with current sites
  • Ensures the effective management of on-site clinical activities
  • Serves as the primary liaison to the accrediting body and Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Coordinates all communication and required reports with state and accrediting bodies; coordinates and hosts accreditation site visits
  • Implements any required changes from accrediting bodies
  • Ensures compliance with all accreditation standards and institutional policies; maintains all necessary program accreditation and state documentation requirements; ensures all key program state application deadlines are met
  • Schedules and organizes advisory committee meetings, providing support to the industry chair; designates a note taker for all meetings, compiles minutes in the required THECB format, and posts minutes to the shared site
  • Recruits students and industry professionals for advisory and faculty roles
General Supervision and Management
  • Initiates and coordinates faculty development programs
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises full-time and adjunct faculty and lab staff
  • Conducts evaluations for all full-time and adjunct faculty members within the program
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the assigned leader within the Dean’s office

Required Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree
  • Three (3) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
  • Two (2) years’ experience supervising (e.g., managing and evaluating the performance of others)
  • EMS Program only: Current Paramedic License
  • Dental Program only: Current Dental Hygenist License
  • Sonography Program only:

a. Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – Abdomen ( RDMS ) or Registered Technologist – Sonography ( RT ),
b. Current RDMS – OB/Gyn or RT , and
c. Current Registered Vascular Technologist ( RVT ) or Registered Vascular Sonographer ( RVS ) Certification
  • Computed Tomography Program only: Current Registered Technologist – Computed Tomography (RT-CT) Certification
  • Long Term Care Program only:

a. Current Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator ( LNFA ) Certification, and
b. Current Nursing Certification or current Health Sciences Certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the assigned program area
  • Completed at least one (1) college-level course in instruction
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of higher education policies, principles, trends, and organizations
  • Knowledge of learning technologies and curriculum design
  • Skilled in leadership methods that promote dedication, creativity, innovation, and growth
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
  • Skilled in oral, electronic, and written communications
  • Skilled using computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
