and Physiology
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Tenure Track Assistant Professor - Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
The Departments of Pharmacology and Physiology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We are seeking candidates who will develop a visionary and rigorous research program in pharmacology and physiology. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, bidirectional communication between the brain and peripheral organs (e.g., brain-gut-microbiome axis), physiopharmacology, neurogenetics/pharmacogenetics, and therapeutic discovery. We encourage applications from researchers focusing on both basic molecular and cellular mechanisms as well as those working on molecular therapeutics and disease-specific models.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education: PhD or equivalent in Physiology, Physical Therapy, Pharmacology and/or Neuroscience.
Experience: Experience with exercise paradigms in model organisms of aging and neurological disease is a requirement. Demonstrated experience with teaching pharmacology, physiology or equivalent in one-on-one, lecture and laboratory settings. Demonstrated experience in mentoring young scientists. Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary research and team-work across departments.
Knowledge: Detailed understanding of exercise physiology and its utilization and effects in animal and human physiology.
Skills: Genetics, physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, grant and manuscript writing, teaching and mentoring students at various levels, from high school to medical students and postdocs.
Abilities: Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Leadership potential Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Leadership potential
