Description

The Department of Teaching and Learning in the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education at the University of Montana invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Mathematics Education with a focus on elementary mathematics.

Courses for this position include Early Numeracy and K-8 Mathematics Methods, as well as other offerings that support our undergraduate and graduate programs. Our teacher education programs have extensive clinical components, and our faculty spend a great deal of time working with teacher candidates and school partners in field placements. A successful candidate for this position will also work closely with the math department to design and implement content and pedagogy courses.

In addition to teaching, the position requires scholarly research and publication related to mathematics teacher education. The ideal candidate also has experience seeking external funding for research and professional development grants.

Position Details

Non-Tenure Track Faculty: Department of Teaching and Learning

Title: Clinical Assistant Professor-Mathematics Education
Schedule: Full time academic year position beginning fall semester 2025

Salary: $65,000-$70,000 commensurate with qualifications

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • An Master's in Mathematics Education or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience teaching mathematics in PK-12 schools.
  • Experience providing undergraduate or graduate level instruction in mathematics education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or closely related field.
  • Evidence of external funding for research or training grants.
  • Experience providing instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online formats.
  • Experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • A scholarly publication record.
