About the Job

The Department of Studies in Justice, Culture, & Social Change at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor or Assistant professor for a one-year position in Sociology beginning August 18, 2025, and ending May 17, 2026.

Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibility will be teaching undergraduate courses and departmental and collegiate service.

Qualifications

Essential/Required Qualifications
  • A Master's in Sociology or Criminology from an accredited university
  • Evidence of ability to teach research methods (as well as electives within the candidate’s areas of strength)
  • Evidence of successful college teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminology from an accredited university
  • Evidence of ability to teach statistics, introductory sociology, and inequality courses
  • Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups

The Department of Studies in Justice, Culture, & Social Change is in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) and offers BA degrees in Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, and Women/Gender/Sexuality Studies along with minors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Women/Gender/Sexuality Studies.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $48,000- $63,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
