Job Description

The Women's Center at Virginia Tech seeks an energetic and committed leader to serve as the Assistant Director, Advocacy Services (AD) under the direction of the Co-Director for Services. The Women's Center is a unit of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at Virginia Tech. The AD assists the Women's Center in achieving its mission to foster a campus community that is safe, equitable and supportive for women by serving students, faculty and staff of any gender-identity who have been impacted by gender-based violence. Gender-based violence (GBV) may include but is not limited to sexual assault, domestic and relationship violence, stalking, and harassment. The AD provides oversight to the Women’s Center’s advocacy and support services, supervises 2 full time professional positions (Advocacy Coordinators), provides direct services, provides training to allied professionals and assists with Women’s Center outreach and education efforts related to gender-based violence.

Required Qualifications

· Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Student Affairs or another human services field.
· Comprehensive counseling and/or advocacy work experience.
· Demonstrated experience in providing direct services to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking and other forms of interpersonal violence.
· Experience providing counseling, advocacy or support services in a higher education setting.
· Knowledge of and commitment to intersectional women's and gender issues including gender-based violence, equity, diversity and social justice.
· Strong communication skills, including public presentations and teaching.
· Excellent administrative skills including ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead work groups to successful completion of projects and tasks.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination .

This role is hybrid telework eligible with occasional work from home around providing regular services in the center.
