ACCESS SERVICES LIBRARIAN
The Access Services Librarian at Pacific Northwest College of Art implements and manages procedures to ensure the smooth operation of circulation, resource sharing, and interlibrary loan as well as being responsible for training, supervising and evaluating student employees. As the primary public services position in the library, this position works closely with the Branch Manager and other library staff to continuously improve library facilities and services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages circulation, resource sharing, and interlibrary
loan
- Hires, trains, and supervises student employees
- Responsible for explaining and enforcing library policies and
procedures and for seeing that access services policies are
accurately reflected in library material
- Provides on-site expertise in using the ILS
- Maintains statistics for circulation, interlibrary loans,
reserves, and use of library space
- Works in collaboration with Branch Manager and library staff to
establish policies and implementation of library-wide initiatives
and projects
- Works with Electronic Resource Librarian to manage
serials
- Performs copy cataloging
- Provides outreach to students, faculty, and staff. Works
closely with the Branch Manager and colleagues in other PNCA
departments to ensure that the library is integrated into the
overall PNCA community
Additional Job Functions
- Provides access to archival materials and special
collections
- Represents the library with committee work, within the
University Libraries, on campus and at local and national
conferences
- Works closely with the Branch Manager to manage facilities and
deal with issues of security
- Provides reference assistance
- Maintains current awareness of trends and developments in
library services; seek continuous improvements in professional
skills and competencies through professional development and
attending required training
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Master of Library Science or equivalent
- Interpersonal communication and analytical skills
- Personnel management skills
- Established organization and documentation skills
- Ability to set priorities and complete assignments in a timely
manner
- Ability to handle interruptions, perform in a multi-task
environment
- Technology skills
- Proven ability to maintain attendance with set hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience carrying out circulation and interlibrary
loans
- Familiarity with integrated library systems
- Knowledge of art
Typical Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to forty pounds
- Ability to tolerate dust, bend, squat, reach, and use step
stools
Salary: $55,735
