JOB SUMMARY :
The Podcast, News, and Sports Coordinator at KTSU 90.9FM is responsible for creating, producing, and coordinating podcasts, news, and sports programming. This role includes engaging corporate underwriters for financial support, overseeing technical aspects, and collaborating with students for experiential learning. The Coordinator plays a key role in delivering compelling content that aligns with KTSU’s ACCESS mission and fosters community engagement.

This position is distinguished by its unique combination of content production, on-air delivery, and corporate partnership engagement. The Podcast, News, and Sports Coordinator not only creates and curates engaging audio content for KTSU 90.9FM but also actively seeks corporate underwriting to support and expand programming. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in audio production, on-air charisma, and relationship-building skills to engage listeners and attract financial backing from corporate underwriters. Additionally, this role supports the mission of experiential learning by offering hands-on training opportunities for students in radio and multimedia production.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Develop, produce, and manage original podcast content.
  • Collaborate with the KTSU team and students on storytelling and content curation.
  • Research and deliver relevant local, national, and community news updates.
  • Produce sports content focusing on local teams, coordinating game-day broadcasts and player interviews.
  • Work with the Marketing and Promotions team to promote content and engage listeners.
  • Build relationships with corporate underwriters to secure financial support for programming.
  • Ensure all broadcasts meet KTSU’s technical quality standards.
  • Mentor student volunteers in podcasting, news, and sports broadcasting.

Hiring Range
$55,038.89 - $70,174.59

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Required Licensing/Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • FCC guidelines and journalistic standards.
  • Audio production software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity) and broadcasting equipment.

Skill in:
  • Verbal and written communication for diverse audiences and corporate partnerships.
  • Audio recording, editing, and production.
Ability to:
  • Engage corporate underwriters for financial support.
  • Organize and manage multiple projects.
  • Foster collaboration with students and KTSU staff.
  • Produce high-quality, community-centered content.
Work Experience
  • Three (3+) years of experience in radio production, podcasting, on-air broadcasting, or corporate partnership engagement.
  • Experience in sports broadcasting, particularly in a university or local context preferred.
Working/Environmental Conditions
  • Prolonged standing and/or walking.
  • Handling light weight objects.
  • Using or carrying equipment.
