Purpose of Position
This position will support graduate nursing students and nursing alumni seeking initial, continuing, and additional nursing licensures and certifications upon completion of clinicals. The coordinator will coordinate all nursing student paperwork requests and work directly with students to counsel them on what is needed to certify for licensure and/or professional board certifications.
The role will also interact with external boards as well as the Kentucky Board of Nursing to ensure NKU students, alumni and faculty are meeting certification and licensure standards for accreditation.

Purpose of Position
This position will support graduate nursing students and nursing alumni seeking initial, continuing, and additional nursing licensures and certifications upon completion of clinicals. The coordinator will coordinate all nursing student paperwork requests and work directly with students to counsel them on what is needed to certify for licensure and/or professional board certifications.

Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for students for the post graduate nursing certificate gap analysis process to include advising students on the process, compiling necessary syllabi, course catalogs, and other documents as required for certification.
- Coordinate with MSN concentration and clinical coordinators to facilitate gap analysis reviews, transfer credit reviews, Verification of Education ( VOE ) reviews, and letters of recommendation.
- Review external requests for Verification of Education ( VOE ) from nursing certification agencies upon student graduation and submit with all necessary documentation to the appropriate MSN coordinator for review and approval.
- Collect supporting documents for employer and state board of nursing letter of recommendation and licensing requests from alumni and current students and submit to the appropriate MSN coordinator for approval.
- Develop tracking/reporting system for MSN student paperwork requests (gap analyses, VOE, licensure applications/verification, etc.) and refine process as needed.
- Provide support to the MSN concentration and clinical coordinators as needed.
- Collaborate with Kentucky Board of Nursing ( KBN ) and KBN designated NKU faculty representatives to ensure School of Nursing faculty licensure and certification data is accurate and continuously updated for new hires each seven weeks.
- Basic Skills with Microsoft Office suite (excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to stick to tight deadlines and prioritize duties
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including
with leadership throughout the college and university and external
agencies
- Self-starter, with ability to consistently follow through on
commitments to their successful completion
- Represent college in a professional manner at all times (via
phone calls, emails, in-person, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality of student academic records
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills,
problem-solving skills, trustworthiness and the ability to
multi-task
- Understanding of/ability to learn healthcare acronyms.
