ASUM Child Car e invites applications for a Culinary Associate I to join their team.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Cook and prep meals according to CACFP guidelines and program menus.
  • Provide and uphold high cleanliness and sanitation standards in both ware washing and kitchen cleaning.
  • Effectively receive and store deliveries in a safe manner, following established procedures.
  • Enforce all food safety procedures relating to ware washing and sanitation, food handling, storage and time. You will be required to take the Food Safety in Child Care Course offered through Childcaretraining.org.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by providing and receiving direction, effective communication, opportunity for individual growth and leadership by example.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by site coordinator and director.
  • Contribute to the success of ASUM Child Care Preschool as an active member and embrace the philosophies of the child care.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Ability work within a very diverse work force.
  • Ability to follow instructions on meal prep, portions, size of food, etc. and be able to read a menu and maintain production records according to CACFP standards.
  • Willing to take the Food Safety in Child Care course offered through childcaretraining.org
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace to get meals ready on time and dishes cleaned for next meal.
  • Ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands and work in an environment with noise, chemicals and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year working in child care and/or food prep.
  • Willing to complete any child care training classes deemed appropriate to job.
Additional Information

Position Number: 094000
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, 12 months/year
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
