Other Conditions: General or Special funds. Appointment to begin August 2025. Selectee is required to complete the COE New Faculty orientation in the first year, Title IX training, and pass a criminal background check.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including doctoral level research courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats;
  • Advise graduate students in traditional and distance education modes;
  • Maintain an active program of research and publication in area of specialization;
  • Participate in the accreditation process, documentation, and report preparation;
  • Provide department, college, university, and community services;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in Learning Design and Technology, Educational Technology, or closely related field from a college or university of recognized standing; will consider ABD if completed by date of hire;
  • Professional knowledge and teaching experience in Learning Design and Technology such as instructional design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of critical innovative and emerging workforce technologies such as data science, artificial intelligence, programming, and/or digital literacy;
  • Evidence of research productivity;
  • Evidence of successful face-to-face and online instruction;
  • Coursework in, or experience with, multiple research methodologies;
  • Strong interpersonal/collaboration skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively through diverse media;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Demonstration of exceptional professional dispositions;
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience that provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate new research and programs that will enhance the department and college;
  • Record of securing external funding for research and/or program implementation;
  • Evidence of professional and/or teaching expertise with innovative and emerging technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence in Educational Practice, Learning Analytics, Extended Reality);
  • Experience with program assessment and accreditation, including knowledge of AECT, ISTE, and other relevant standards;
  • Experience advising at the graduate level, with particular emphasis on research and dissertations;
  • Experience working with Native Hawaiians, special needs learners, English language learners, or other diverse populations;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of culturally-relevant approaches to integrating innovative and emerging technologies;
  • Experience teaching, working, and/or collaborating in K-12 environments, especially with technology.
