The Department of Accounting in the Valdosta State University Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration (LCOBA) seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position beginning August 1, 2025. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.
The congenial and collaborative faculty in the Department of Accounting strives to provide a supportive learning environment for the students with the aim of helping them to achieve their academic and career goals. The Department maintains separate AACSB accreditation in addition to College accreditation. It offers both BBA and Masters in Accountancy degrees. Courses are offered in traditional and online formats. Several student organizations, including Beta Alpha Psi and the Institute of Management Accountants, enhance students’ professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching up to a 12-hour course load during the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in Cost/Managerial Accounting with the possibility of teaching Financial Accounting courses as well. LCOBA faculty members also serve as academic advisors and mentors to the students.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate in Accounting or related field from an AACSB-accredited institution of higher education or member institution or other internationally accredited institution must be completed no later than August 1, 2025; Qualify as a Scholarly Academic by AACSB standards by time of appointment;
- Ability to effectively teach Cost/Managerial Accounting;
- Evidence of ability to produce original and innovative scholarly research to be published in quality journals;
- Ability to engage in course/program development;
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional certification, CPA and/or CMA preferred; Experience teaching graduate courses; Online teaching experience; Experience in academic advising; A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage; Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting; A record of mentoring students.
