POSITION: Engineering and Manufacturing Technology Faculty
DEPARTMENT: Engineering and Engineering Technology
TYPE: Full-Time Faculty

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Teach and lead introductory and advanced engineering and manufacturing technology courses at the undergraduate level and contribute to the Engineering and Engineering Technology department and institution through industry outreach, collaboration, and academic service. Provide management and oversight for manufacturing and machining facilities for engineering and engineering technology coursework.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to a Reformed Biblical perspective and the mission of Dordt University, along with the ability to articulate how this Christian perspective shapes the teaching and practice of engineering and manufacturing technology.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a vision for the Engineering Technology program, particularly in the manufacturing, machining, welding, automated manufacturing, and fabrication elements of the curriculum and through collaboration with stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Manage the machining, manufacturing, fabrication, and welding facilities used for classroom instruction and project-based learning.
- Teach and lead in the Engineering and Engineering Technology curriculum (associate and bachelor’s degrees), providing instruction, internship oversight, and assessment; develop and teach engineering and manufacturing technology courses related to the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure the Engineering Technology program delivers appropriate goals and outcomes for student learning; oversee internship sites and other resources necessary to a successful Engineering Technology program.
- Recruit and advise engineering technology students and assist in developing internship opportunities for these students.
- Participate as a full team member in department and university administrative tasks, including student recruiting and advising, curriculum development and program review, assessment, committee assignments, and accreditation processes).
- Participate in the Core program and campus life of Dordt University.
- Develop and implement a personal annual contribution and professional development plan consistent with university and departmental goals; use the plan as part of regular self-assessment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Express an active Christian commitment, which shall include affiliation with a local, confessionally Reformed congregation that actively supports the mission of Dordt University.
- Personal endorsement of The Educational Task of Dordt University and commitment to the curricular design set forth in The Educational Framework of Dordt University.
- An associate’s degree with technical certification in an engineering technology related field is the minimum education required; preference will be given to candidates who have industry experience and certification, and to those with additional relevant education at the bachelor’s level or beyond.
- Expertise in areas such as manufacturing, machining, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, welding, joining, fabrication, metallurgy, electrical systems, automated manufacturing, or other related engineering technology disciplines.
- A commitment to excellence in college-level teaching, including curriculum design, classroom management, and ongoing student learning assessment is required. Experience in providing professional development or educating others is desired.
- Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities that enable effective collaboration with students, faculty and staff, community members, and other professionals.
