The Engineering Department at Drury University is searching for adventurous spirits to join a small team building new mechanical and electrical engineering programs. Drury University is a small undergraduate-focused liberal arts school in Springfield, Missouri that welcomed its first engineering students in Fall 2024. 

We are seeking faculty with a passion for teaching undergraduates and a willingness to teach a variety of undergraduate mechanical engineering topics. While candidates from any mechanical engineering discipline are welcome to apply, preference will be given to those who have a background in and enthusiasm for teaching design for manufacturing and/or design. Preference will also be given to candidates whose interest areas complement existing faculty strengths in fluids, numerical methods, controls, and statics/mechanics of materials.

Requirements include doctorate and baccalaureate degrees in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. (Doctorate must be complete by the start of employment.) Essential job functions include teaching and advising students; service to the department, University, and professional communities; and professional development.

We welcome applications for tenure-track positions from candidates at any rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) to begin fall 2025. Review of applications will begin December 2, 2024.

  • A statement that discusses your teaching philosophy and accomplishments, while demonstrating that you share our passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • A statement that discusses your professional development objectives. Professional development may include scholarship in all its forms, including the scholarships of discovery, integration, and application.
  • A current curriculum vitae.

Candidates should also provide evidence of a commitment to fostering and engaging with a diversity of ideas and experiences, which create an inclusive environment in the classroom and at the university.

Finalist candidates will also be asked to provide contact information for at least three (3) professional references capable of commenting on the appropriateness of your candidacy at Drury University.
