Job Details

The TRIO Training and Empowerment Center provides professional development events to TRIO project personnel and other similar professionals nationwide, through both online webinars and in-person learning events. These trainings, led by a team of nationally recognized experts, focus on increasing access and success in post-secondary education for first-generation, low-income, and other underrepresented learners. This position oversees and plans all aspects of the project to ensure the successful execution of these trainings, in compliance with federal regulations and grant objectives. This is a grant-funded position.

Primary Duties:
  • Coordinate logistical arrangements, including facilities, equipment, and lodging for training events.
  • Handle inquiries regarding training opportunities, process applications, and manage the online registration system.
  • Prepare and send correspondence to potential and enrolled participants.
  • Serve as the onsite contact for logistical support at training venues.
  • Manage databases for tracking participant selection, attendance, and training evaluations.
  • Assist with processing check requests and managing grant expenditures.
  • Work productively and efficiently as part of a creative team within Federal TRIO Programs, supporting daily work and special projects and announcements.
  • Coordinate visuals for outdoor advertisements used for the GVSU Identity Campaign and display commitment to GVSU’s mission of inclusion and equity though visual representations.
  • Identify photo and video needs and deeply understand current brand/campaign visual needs.
  • Oversee a calendar of revolving projects to ensure updated and appropriate.
  • Maintain social media, required documentation, and file management, and archiving.
  • Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, faculty/staff, participants, and the public, effectively communicating the grant and university’s needs.
  • Assist Associate Vice President lead consultant on assignments as needed. Provide overall leadership for administrative tasks.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in office administration/business.
  • At least two (2) years of office administration experience.
  • Proficiency in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office, database management, and other administrative software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience handling extensive details, coordination, and working under deadlines.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting practices.
  • Experience managing and supervising teams and/or projects.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • Ability to manage a production schedule, meet and enforce deadlines, and communicate effectively.
  • A team-oriented and collaborative approach to creative development.
  • Dedication to detail, organization, and an eye for good design.
  • Proficient in the following: Adobe Creative Cloud; Microsoft Office, Digital Asset Management software, and office productivity software, including Zoom and Outlook Calendar and Drive.
  • Experience working under pressure, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and collegial relationships with peers, customers, administrators, vendors, etc.
  • Cooperative team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty/staff of all levels throughout the university.
  • This position does require a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience in higher education and supporting first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students.
  • Experience working with and supporting the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment. Some travel is required. Some weekends and evenings may be required.

Salary range: $42,000-47,000; commensurate with experience.
