Position Summary


Grounded in critical theory of adult learning, popular education, and a social justice framework, the mission of the Multicultural Centers (MC) is to support the recruitment, retention, and holistic (academic, leadership, professional) success of Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC) and to advance diversity, inclusion, and equity on campus and district wide. The MC values academic achievement, community-building, and social justice, which is demonstrated through our services and resources, activities and events, and a wide variety of leadership opportunities for all students. The Multicultural Centers are a part of the department of Multicultural Services and the Division of Student Belonging and Wellbeing. This position would report to the Director of Multicultural Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Multicultural Center.
  • Oversee the work of academic professional, classified and casual staff, student workers and volunteers.
  • Administer multiple program budgets; prepares cost estimates, budget recommendations and monitors budget expenditures.
  • Co-create (with the district MC Coordinators) and oversee leadership development programs for BIPOC students.
  • Develop and track data for retention and multicultural programs that support student success.
  • Provide district-wide leadership and coordination of educational programs
  • Support District Leaders Diversity Council and college wide development of Belonging, Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (BJEDI) policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with other Resource Centers, Student Life, as well as campus staff and faculty.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

  • Demonstrated experience advocating for BIPOC students and communities; while also understanding the intersectional student populations.

  • Demonstrated experience providing student services and support in a front-line capacity (remote or face-to-face) including experience with student leadership program, crisis management and response, community outreach for staff and students.

  • Familiarity with programs and systems such as Banner, Chrome River, Human Resources and Payroll processes and policies or similar applications.

  • Experience monitoring and tracking budgets, preparing budget reports and updates, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and guidelines.

  • Experience training, overseeing, and mentoring student staff and supporting students in program planning and implementation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in student development and student success theories and learning, showing knowledge and application of culturally relevant research and practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Arts, Multicultural Studies, Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, Social Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Three years of experience in a diverse setting coordinating services or programs.

  • Minimum of one year experience specific to service of BIPOC communities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting programming for students of color and culture, and preferably men of color.

  • Experience providing leadership and coordination of large-scale campus projects and events.

  • Demonstrated experience planning and establishing program outcomes and assessments.

  • Master degree in education, ethnic studies, social justice, sociology, higher education administration, or related field.

Starting Salary Expectations
$71,174.00

Position Grade Salary Range
$71,174.00 to $123,415.00 based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is typically performed in an office environment or remotely with a high level of public contact, both over the phone and in person. During peak recruitment periods incumbent may work extended hours, including weekends. This position may require travel within the community and PCC campuses requiring the use of a personal vehicle. Occasional light lifting of large quantities of recruiting materials and display equipment that may weigh 30-50 pounds.
