Position Overview :
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Recruitment, the Admissions Counselor and Event Coordinator will work with the Admissions office to develop, promote and facilitate Admissions-related on- and off-campus events that will enable prospective students, parents, educators and all other campus visitors a quality and accurate representation of the University of Minnesota Crookston.
Compensation and Term :
12-Month renewable Contract
- Compensation commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic discipline.

Reports to the Assistant Director of Recruitment
Functions and Duties:
Recruitment of Students 50%
- Working with the Assistant Director of Recruitment, develop and
implement a recruitment plan tailored for assigned territory to
meet short-term and long-term goals.
Conduct student recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus, as well as virtually. - Plans and participates in recruitment and enrollment activities, including: open houses, regional presentations, orientation programs, career days, regional and national college fairs, virtual events, and build brand awareness and reputation.
- Develops and presents public presentations designed to promote the University.
- Meets with prospective students and parents to provide individual counseling on educational options and alternatives.
- Monitors student behavior trends and adjusts recruiting plan accordingly.
- Reviews applications and makes admissions decisions based on academic requirements and program choice compatibility.
- Engages in extensive phone calls to applicants within assigned recruitment territory.
- Meet individual recruitment goals and objectives.
- Anticipates and responds to the needs of guests from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Participates in advancing UMN Crookston efforts to build an
inclusive and respectful campus community.
Participate in training programs to develop professionally and become fully informed about the University and recruiting strategies. - Maintain a working knowledge of current UMN Crookston degree programs, policies, and major content.
- Will work with technology, such as CRM’s (Slate), and student records databases.
The Admissions Event Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Office of Admissions, primarily focused on the development and execution of yield focused admissions activities with particular focus on:
- Serve as primary point of contact for all University Admissions events (on campus, off campus, and virtual events)
- Responsibilities include planning, staffing, facilitating, executing, and managing all aspects of the event.
- Serve as primary point of contact for the Admissions Community Engagement committee.
- Assist the Admissions Counselors with planning recruiting or yield events in their territory.
- Develop and oversee execution of large-scale events and information sessions for prospective families and large groups.
- Work closely with leadership to assist with visit programs, Open Houses, and Receptions
- Responsible for follow-up communications pre and post program with all prospective and applicants including family visitors.
- Conduct campus tours as needed.
- Evaluate program success through frequent assessment; provide reports to Leadership highlighting successes and recommendations for improvements
- Work closely with University Relations and Marketing on all communication needs for Admissions events.
- Ensure that communication is being executed through SLATE, USPS, and digital marketing.
- Work with the Director of Admissions to Identify program needs and ideas for areas of Admissions and Enrollment Management
- Work closely with Director of Admissions, Associate Director of Admissions, and various colleagues to execute University-wide programs and provide necessary support.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of University of Minnesota Crookston policy, academic programs, history and associated details.
- Represent University of Minnesota Crookston in a professional manner at various functions as required.
- Evening, weekend, and night work is required at various times throughout the year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree.
- Valid driver's license.
- Demonstrates commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in the student body.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate significant contributions to the attainment of institutional enrollment goals including adding to the collaborative nature and teamwork of the Admissions Office staff.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, student affairs educators, staff, prospective students, and families.
- Experience working in college admissions, college counseling, or in related areas.
- Experience as undergraduate admissions intern, student ambassador, student life or student activities leadership experience, or student volunteer experience will be considered.
- Ability to work under pressure, in a team atmosphere, and with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Familiarity with the University and the surrounding communities desired.
- Experience organizing and planning programs and public presentations.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $48,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience
