Job Description

The Special Advisor to the President for International Strategy will develop and execute a comprehensive international strategy aligned with the University’s strategic plan. This position provides key guidance to the President on global partnerships, student recruitment, research collaborations, and enhancing international engagement on campus. Collaborating closely with academic units, university administrators, faculty, and staff, the Special Advisor will lead efforts to cultivate a globally aware and connected campus community.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Lead the development and execution of an international strategy that aligns with the University’s strategic plan, identifying markets and opportunities for global engagement.
    • Analyze international trends and geopolitical factors to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Conduct market research to identify and evaluate potential partner institutions and agencies for collaboration.
  • International Partnerships:
    • Facilitate and manage international partnerships with universities, research institutions, and government agencies.
    • Negotiate and oversee international agreements for degree programs, student exchanges, faculty collaborations, and research contracts.
    • Build relationships with key international stakeholders to enhance the university's global reputation.
  • Student Recruitment and Mobility:
    • Foster strategies to attract, recruit, and retain international students to enhance campus diversity.
  • Research and Faculty Engagement:
    • Identify opportunities for international research collaborations and foster faculty engagement in global projects.
  • Communication and Advocacy:
    • Serve on internal and external committees, representing the university at international conferences, events, and government meetings.
    • Work with the International Programs Advisory Council to ensure coordinated communication among stakeholders.
    • Lead the Cristal DeHaan Center for Global Engagement, ensuring strategic alignment.
    • Develop and implement a high-quality onboarding experience for international students.
    • Advocate for the university's international strategy across various platforms, engaging with faculty, staff, students, and potential partners.
Qualifications:
  • Doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience in international higher education, with a strong track record in developing transnational programs, student recruitment, and internationalization strategies.
  • Deep understanding of global higher education trends, international recruitment, and cross-cultural dynamics.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven leadership and project management abilities.
