Job Summary:
The Admissions Counselor is an outcome driven position responsible for recruiting new students. By nurturing inquiries and applications, cultivating relationships with campus ministries, faith communities, and other settings where theological education is valued, they will build momentum in interest and facilitate discernment with prospective students. Their work will also be inclusive of events, virtual chats, and campus experiences at Brite. The person in this position will have and show evidence of capacity to recruit across diverse contexts.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Promotes Brite’s ethos of scholarship, justice, and practice by working with the Director of Admissions to implement established recruiting strategies; coordinating, implementing, and staffing events; representing Brite at events; conducting special tours virtually and in person.
2. Actively engages social media and other campus activities that promote Brite; works to identify and recruit prospective students through calls, nurturing referrals, and building rapport with campus ministers, community faith leaders, and other influencers.
3. Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and financial aid information. Respond with immediacy to the needs of the prospect.
4. Hosts applicants in informal meetings; advises prospective students on degree program and vocational pathway options.
5. Successfully manage applicant pool, utilizing campus administrative software and consistent strategic communication, including in-person appointments, phone calls, direct mail, email, and social media, all in an effort to encourage applications for admission and ultimately enrollment.
6. Expedites application documents; routinely communicates application status to applicant and Director of Admissions; and assesses the applicant’s academic needs and appropriateness of Brite for their graduate education.
7. Plans, shares, reconciles, and reports travel and programming related expenses for recruiting.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Graduate theological degree.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• None
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
• Knowledge of presentations and interpersonal relationship techniques.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of multi-cultural diversity on campus.
• Knowledge of graduate school life.
• Knowledge of relevant TCU programs.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to establish priorities.
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally.
• Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.
• Ability to build a rapport with prospective students
• Ability to represent Brite at college and university career, and graduate fairs.
• Ability to utilize college software to maintain up to date records and track inquiries and applicants through the admissions process.
• Ability to work as a team.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to travel by driving or airplane extensively and handle bulky recruitment materials, with lifting.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs – 20lbs
Work Environment:
• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
