Job Description:
The Financial Aid Specialist position is a full-time career service position providing support and counseling for federal, state, and institutional programs. The Financial Aid Specialist provides assistance to students and other personnel during registration; participates and provides Financial Aid expertise for student affairs events; reviews student files for accuracy and completeness; provides excellent customer service; monitors and covers the Financial Aid call center and front window and provides assistance as needed; and counsels students and parents on all related financial aid areas. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Financial Aid.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an associate degree or its equivalent. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the college degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
*Per F.S. 295.065 – Certain servicemembers and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such servicemembers and veterans, will receive preference and priority, and certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
ANNUAL SALARY: $32,375.00 ($16.61/hour)
