The Office of Alumni Engagement is a vital function of Liberty University's strategic plan and operations. The Alumni Office helps to serve our alumni and friends of Liberty University across the world. This assistant is responsible for handling customer service in the office by answering incoming calls, responding to emails, and greeting and assisting visitors. Additionally, this position involves maintaining inventory and organizing office supplies needed for the Alumni Relations staff. The student works closely with the alumni team and supports them in various tasks, including event planning, creative writing, graphic design, photography, data entry, and other projects as needed. The student effectively collaborates as a team member, embracing and promoting LU’s mission. Students must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours weekly.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Speaking, greeting, and hosting guests of the office including alumni, students, and university leadership.

2. Assisting at events during select weekends and evenings throughout the semester.

3. Interact positively and professionally with all who come into the office.

4. Talking with and relating to alumni from different decades and campuses.

5. Relay information on the various university resources for alumni.

6. Replying to emails promptly and professionally.

7. Assist with setup and hosting of on-campus events.

8. Receiving and placing phone calls.

9. Creative writing.

10. Social media strategic planning and implementation across platforms.

11. Graphic design and photography.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Ability to write stories for publications both internally and externally.

2. Social media and graphic design experience.

3. Photography.

4. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.

5. Interpersonal skills, including a collaborative and team-oriented work style.

6. Ability to interact and work with a diverse group including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and guests.

7. Work a minimum of 15 hours weekly.

8. Individual must not be convicted of, or have pled nolo contendere or guilty to, a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, or be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds (CFR 668.14(b)(18)(i)).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous customer service experience.

2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
