JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for partnering, facilitating, and leading project management for strategic grant and post award activities. This position will report to the Charleston Innovation Center Executive Director, and is responsible for supporting post award growth, standardizing institution-wide business processes and leading foundational activities that provides support with transformation and change. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Strategic Execution and Implementation:
Establish and maintain a "post award administration hub", tasked with supporting and providing quality service to staff and faculty. Identify process/hand off gaps, meet and coordinate with faculty and college/central staff to ensure beginning-to-end post award administrative tasks are performed, while minimizing faculty time spent towards post award administrative activities. Set targets, tracks progress and monitors plan to drive success that produces overall results. Assess, report, and recommend initiatives or tactics to advance post award operations. Create/revise risk plans and business continuity plans and recommend strategies or tactics to identify, monitor, mitigate, or manage risks.
30% - Essential - Project Management and Change Management:
Serves as a technical expert in the grant administration field; knowledge and understanding of the subject matter is required for this role. Leads the full project management life cycle of initiatives/projects and grants management activities within the Grants Shared Service support unit (examples include current and future state assessments, system implementation, metrics development, process standardization and workflow improvements). This position is responsible for tracking and facilitating progress to meet critical deadlines and milestones.
20% - Essential - Partnerships, Collaboration and Communication:
This position will partner and collaborates with other teams and/or project managers assigned to sponsored grants and activities in establishing an operations network. Establish/facilitate training for project managers and staff to provide high quality customer service for our faculty and sponsors. Collaborates with College Research Deans, Faculty, and other project managers assigned to sponsored grants and activities. Drives adoption of new technology and processes among customer groups by communicating the "why" and incorporating customer feedback. Assists with coordinating communications regarding grants and awards.
10% - Essential - Continuous Improvement:
Create an environment that encourages continuous improvement. Identify and drive implementation of operational efficiency opportunities and ensure improvements are implemented using best practice methodologies, automation/AI tools, and techniques. Develop and maintain departmental metrics to assess process and policy effectiveness and identify potential process improvements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Experience - 3+ years of relevant experience managing projects

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Hiring Range ($80,000.00 - $95,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
