Xavier University’s Office of Academic Advising and Learning Support is seeking applications for two Assistant Director of Graduate Student Success positions. Xavier has adopted an enhanced mission to support the holistic, academic needs of all students. The role is aligned with important university retention and completion goals, whereby the Assistant Director provides differentiated advising and student support to their caseload of graduate students, considering adult learning theory and the needs of this specific population.
Through the understanding of persistence research and predictive modeling, the Assistant Director will proactively and strategically outreach to all students with the following goals:
- Monitor student progress and satisfaction and coordinate problem resolution by utilizing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform as well as through one-on-one meetings, group advising and other graduate student programming.
- Provide targeted outreach and support for students at risk of leaving the university by collaborating with other academic support/advising offices, deans, and faculty.
- Create friendly, professional relationships with new and returning students for assigned graduate programs.
- Make appropriate referrals and connections within the university.
- Provide administrative, logistical, and student support in registration, course selection, persistence risk, and general success strategies.
- Coordinate special project as assigned, including student orientation, communication, and data analysis.
- Assist in the training of new faculty/staff advisors at Xavier, support faculty/staff in the use of advising software, create and publish reports, use data to effectively inform decisions, aid in the supervision of student staff, serve on committees, and more.
- Master’s degree, preferably in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education or similar
- 1- 3 years in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
- Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
